The ten-ton 6×6 of the range, the Magirus-Deutz 320 D 22 AL built in South Africa from 1983 until 1998 with the air-cooled Deutz F10L 413F V10: the Defence Force's standard heavy truck, the G5 gun tractor, and the chassis of the Bateleur and the Bosvark.

The SAMIL 100 is in effect a SAMIL 50 with a third axle and a V10 of 15,953 cc, sharing its cab. As a drop-side cargo truck it carries ten tonnes or 50 troops; it was also built as a heavy recovery truck, a tipper, fuel and water tankers, a canteen, a refrigerated truck, a horse transporter and a 6×4 for rear areas.

It towed the 155 mm G5 in Angola, and with the Kwêvoël mine-protected cab it became a weapon carrier after the war: the Bosvark twin 23 mm anti-aircraft gun from 1991 and the Bateleur 40-tube rocket launcher. The SANDF was still running and repairing its SAMIL 100s in 2011 while it looked for a replacement.
