Kurogane built one four-wheel drive and it was first: the Type 95 of 1936–44, Japan's first purpose-designed scout car and five years ahead of the American jeep. About 4,700 were made at Ōmori in Tokyo, on a 2,000 mm wheelbase and 1,100 kg, behind an air-cooled V-twin of 33 PS.
