The origin of the marque: Besserdich and Mosling’s 1917 prototype Old Betsy, the two-ton Model A of 1918 (seven built) and the Model B and F, four-wheel-drive trucks with an automatic centre differential for Wisconsin’s roads and snow.
The medium trucks of the US forces: the Marines’ MTVR 6x6 of 1999 (11,359, with the MK23 cargo, MK36 wrecker and the British 357) and the Army’s FMTV as built by Oshkosh from 2010 — the LMTV 4x4 and MTV 6x6, over 40,500 trucks and trailers by 2021.
The protected 4x4s of the 2010s: the M-ATV of 2009, built at 1,000 a month for Afghanistan (about 10,000; 8,722 for the US forces, the rest for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Uzbekistan and Poland), and the L-ATV chosen as the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle in August 2015, over 20,000 by 2023 and exported to Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Romania and others.
The airport crash tender since 2001: the Striker 4x4 and 6x6 with TAK-4 suspension, rear-mounted diesels and the Snozzle piercing boom, the successor to Oshkosh’s P-4, M and T-series crash trucks.
