The South African Artillery's multiple rocket launcher: 40 tubes for the 127 mm rocket on a mine-protected Kwêvoël 100, 8.53 m long and 21.5 t gross, with a range of 7.5 to 36 km. It was first called the Valkiri Mk II.
The Bateleur was developed from the 24-tube Valkiri after the end of the Border War, and it has not been used in combat. It fires singly or in ripple at up to one rocket a second, reloads in under ten minutes, and comes into and out of action in one and two minutes. A Kwêvoël 100 ammunition truck with 96 rockets supports each launcher. Denel built the launcher and Truckmakers the chassis; the systems serve with the Artillery School, the Artillery Mobilisation Regiment and 4 Artillery Regiment at Potchefstroom, much of the fleet in storage.
