BMC of İzmir — founded in 1964 as a British Motor Corporation licensee, and not the British company — is now one of the larger makers of mine-resistant vehicles. The Kirpi has over 2,000 in Turkish service and has gone to Pakistan, Tunisia, Libya and Ukraine; the lighter Amazon and the Vuran infantry mobility vehicle followed, alongside a range of tactical trucks.
