UMM’s four-wheel drives were built in Portugal from 1979 to 2004 under the 1977 licence for Cournil’s design: the UMM 4x4 Cournil and Entrepreneur to 1985, the Alter from 1985, the Alter II from 1986 and the Alter 2000 from 1998. 12,166 were sold between 1979 and 1989, 7,778 of them in Portugal.

Cournil 4x4

Bernard Cournil’s design built in Portugal under UMM’s 1977 licence: the UMM 4x4 Cournil in Randonneur, Tracteur and Entrepreneur versions from 1979, and from 1980 the UMM 4x4 Entrepreneur alone, until 1985.

Alter

The Cournil restyled by Carlos Galamba and named after the Alter Real strain of the Lusitano horse: the Alter of 1985, the Alter II of 1986 with a turbodiesel from 1987, and the Alter 2000 of 1998–2004.
