Gevarm, an arms maker, bought the French rights in 1977 and built the first Cournil that can be considered a production model, on 2,040 and 2,540 mm wheelbases with Saviem petrol, Indenor diesel and Saviem diesel engines; right-hand drive and a Renault petrol engine followed in 1979. The rights outside France went at the same time to UMM, whose Portuguese Cournils kept the same body.
SIMI took over in 1980, moved to wheelbases of 2,200 and 2,750 mm — the Randonneur and the Entrepreneur — and added PSA diesels; it built 560, mostly for EDF, the police and the forestry and public-works services. Autoland, founded by François Servanin, took the business over in 1982–84 and built the SC as Auverland until the A3.
