The Suburban Carryall was four-wheel driven by NAPCO from the mid-1950s and by the factory from 1957, and has followed the K-series through every generation as the wagon of ranches, utilities and federal motorcades. The K5 Blazer of 1969 put a removable top and a rear seat on the K10 chassis against the Bronco and the Scout and led the class through the 1970s; the square-body Blazer of 1973–91 had a half-cab top from 1976, the Chalet camper of 1976–77 and the M1009 of 1983–87.
Chevrolet replaced the K5 with the GMT400 Blazer in 1992 and renamed it Tahoe with the four-door body in 1995; the Tahoe has been the American police SUV since the Police Pursuit Vehicle and the Z71 its off-road trim through the GMT800, GMT900, K2XX and T1XX generations.
