The Suburban of 1935 gained four-wheel drive through NAPCO in the 1950s and from the factory in 1957 with the Task Force trucks; the K-series Suburban followed each pick-up generation and grew a four-door body in 1973 and the 2500 heavy version; it is the vehicle of federal motorcades and rural fire and ambulance conversions.
