The 3160 Simbir of 1997 put a steel five-door body and a coil-sprung front on the 469 layout; the long 3162 of 2000 became the Patriot after Sollers took over UAZ and redesigned it for 2005 with a modern interior and a Dymos gearbox. The Pickup and Cargo of 2008 lengthened the frame for a double-cab truck and a cab-chassis.
Facelifts in 2012, 2014 and 2016 brought a new dashboard, lamps, ESP and a rear locker option; the Iveco diesel of 2008–12 and the ZMZ-51432 of 2012–16 were dropped. The Russian Army ordered 1,500 Patriots in 2023 and the police forces of Russia, Belarus and Serbia run it.
