Dangel built competition cars from the late 1960s and developed its first four-wheel-drive 504 with Peugeot’s own engineers, showing a prototype in 1978; Peugeot took the conversion into its range in 1980 and sold it through its dealers with a warranty — a rare arrangement for a converter.
The 505 break of 1986 went mostly to French state and utility fleets, and since the 1990s Dangel’s business has been the vans: Partner, Expert and Boxer and their Citroën and Fiat twins, for mountain rescue, ski resorts, forestry, utilities and fire brigades.
