The Eagle I, II and III used the Humvee and Humvee ECV chassis with Detroit Diesel V8s — a fast way to a reconnaissance vehicle for a small army. The I weighed 4.5 tonnes; the III was drawn for artillery observation.
The IV moved onto the Duro II 4×4 at 6.7–7.4 tonnes and the V onto the Duro IIIP in 4×4 and 6×6 at 7.0 and 7.7 tonnes or more, with Cummins sixes of 240–285 hp and 285–360 hp. Germany’s order made it one of the most numerous protected patrol vehicles in Europe.
