The Duro was drawn for Swiss conditions: narrow mountain roads, steep gradients and snow. It is lower and lighter than a conventional military truck and carries cargo, shelter, ambulance, EOD and reconnaissance bodies.
The III 6×6 uses a Cummins ISB5-9 of 275 hp in Swiss GMTF form and a Cummins 6BTA-5.9 of 245 hp for export. The armoured IIIP added ballistic protection and a remote weapon station, and became the chassis of the Eagle V. Germany had the vehicle reworked as the mine-protected Yak by Rheinmetall MAN. Switzerland, Germany, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Ireland all operate it.
