The Swiss Army’s tactical transport: developed by Bucher-Guyer AG at Niederweningen, in service from 1994 after an initial order of 3,000 vehicles, and built at Kreuzlingen since production moved to Mowag in January 2003. More than 4,000 Duro 4×4 and 6×6 are in service worldwide.

The Duro was drawn for Swiss conditions — narrow mountain roads, snow, steep gradients — and answered them with a low, light vehicle on a de Dion-type suspension rather than a conventional heavy truck. Switzerland, Germany, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Ireland all operate it, in cargo, shelter, ambulance, EOD and reconnaissance forms.
