Trackster

Cushman and its parent, Outboard Marine Corporation, announced the Trackster in 1969 for delivery in spring 1970, and the first production example left the Lincoln line on 13 February 1970. An OMC 437 cc air-cooled two-stroke twin of 25 hp drives two Sundstrand hydrostatic transmissions, one per track, and a single T-handle steers, sets speed, reverses and brakes; turning one track against the other spins the vehicle in its own length.

The one-piece fibreglass hull, coloured in the gel coat, sits on a welded steel-tube frame with die-cast aluminium bogie wheels and Goodyear rubber tracks. Cushman quoted 985 lb unladen, an 800 lb payload, 16 mph and a 45° grade. Two models were sold: the standard 898000 and the marsh 898002, with a flotation ring bonded to the hull. Recreational buyers took about half the early sales, electric utilities, government, ranches and universities most of the rest. Production ended in 1975; the number built is not published.
