José Megre led UMM’s Paris–Dakar team from 1982: three started and three finished that year, four started and four finished in 1983, and five started and five finished in 1984, three of them disqualified for exceeding a stage’s maximum time. A 1985 team led by Gérard Henon did not finish, and two Alter Turbos retired in 1987. The team’s cars ran Indenor diesels and, from 1983, PRV V6 petrol engines; the French Cournils of 1979–83 are under Cournil.
From 1987 three PRV V6 Alters formed the factory team in the Portuguese and Spanish Bajas for four years, and the Troféu of 1989 was built for customers to compete. In 1988 three Alters drove from Macau to Lisbon, 22,000 km in 46 days. Two 1992 UMMs finished the Dakar Classic in 2024.
