History
The Haflinger and Pinzgauer were built for armies — the Austrian Bundesheer’s mountain infantry from 1959 and the Austrian and Swiss forces’ truck requirements of the 1960s — and served the Swiss Army (about 3,500 Pinzgauers), the Australian Army and the Royal Navy, and the British Army as its Light Gun tractor and ambulance from the 1990s until the Vector’s failure in Helmand ended the line in 2009.
