The Land Cruiser entered service with the Australian Snowy Mountains scheme in 1958, with the United Nations, mining companies and aid agencies from the 1960s, and with armies and police forces across Africa, the Middle East and Asia; the 70 Series remains the standard utility vehicle of many of them.
