Vickers-Armstrongs' carriers served from 1928 into the 1960s: Carden-Loyds with the British Army and, licence-built, in Italy, the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia; Bren and Scout carriers with the British Expeditionary Force in 1939–40; and Universal Carriers in every theatre of the Second World War with British, Commonwealth, Polish, Free French and Soviet forces, then with Argentina, West Germany, Israel, Ireland, Switzerland and others after it.
