The Soviet Union’s rural services ran on UAZs. The 452A ambulance carried stretcher cases over roads no other ambulance could use; the 452D and 3303 were the trucks of the collective farms and the post; the 2206 minibus the crew bus of state enterprises and geological parties; the 469B the vehicle of forestry, the geological survey, the militia and the fire services’ forest patrols.
Since 1991 the Bukhanka and Hunter have stayed the cheapest new four-wheel drives with a low range in Russia and are the base of hunting, fishing and overland conversions with raised suspension and roof tents; the Patriot, Pickup and Cargo serve utilities, the emergencies ministry and the police; exports go to Cuba, Mongolia, Vietnam and Latin America.
