The Romanian Ministry of National Defence bought Dusters through the national fleet-renewal scheme rather than as a military vehicle programme — 886 from 2015 to 2021 at a cost of about 78 million lei. They carry military police patrols and take personnel to exercises and training.
The batch of 74 received on 15 December 2021 were all 4×4s with the 115 hp 1.5 diesel; 62 went to the 122nd Logistics Brigade 'Muntenia' in Bucharest and 12 to the 84th Maintenance and Reception Centre. Dacia painted them in a mosaic camouflage at the factory. Renault Romania's proposed military adaptation added underbody protection, a removable winch, air-transport lashing points, 24 V outlets and blackout lights, and the minister announced joint development work with Dacia from January 2022.
