The four-wheel-drive versions of the second Duster (HM), shown at Frankfurt in September 2017 and built at Mioveni until 2024 on the first car's 2,673 mm wheelbase. The Nissan-derived part-time system carries over — 2WD, Auto and Lock — with hill descent control added; there is still no low range, only a short first gear.

The record
The second Duster reached the Romanian market in November 2017 and kept the first car's platform and dimensions under new bodywork. Four-wheel drive was offered with the 1.6 SCe petrol, the 1.2 TCe 125 and 1.3 TCe petrols and the 1.5 Blue dCi diesel of 115 PS; the 4×4's boot is smaller, 376 litres against 445, because of the rear axle. It was also built as the Renault Duster in Brazil from 2020, Colombia from 2021 and Russia in 2021–22, and assembled in Lagos, Nigeria from 2021. About 900,000 had been made by April 2022. The 4×4 was the base of the Duster Pick-Up of 2020 and of the Romanian Army's Dusters.
