In 1925 the Société d’Exploitation d’Autos-Chenilles ran about a hundred half-track barge tractors on the canals of northern France and Belgium, taking a barge from Calais to Saint-Omer in two days instead of seven. The P15 N snow half-track carried passengers and mail over the Alps: the Swiss Post ran two buses over the Ofen pass from 1929 to 1939, the Austrian post at least six, Iceland’s road administration four chassis, and a regular Grenoble–Briançon service crossed the Lautaret from January 1932.
The 2CV Sahara was built for oil exploration and delivered the Swiss post. The commune of Lège-Cap-Ferret used a Unic P107 as a forest-fire tanker from 1954 to 1979. Dangel’s C15 of 1991 went mainly to utilities and administrations such as EDF and the Post, and its Berlingo, Jumpy and Jumper conversions serve French fire brigades.
