Japan designed a purpose-built four-wheel-drive scout car five years before the United States did, and built it in numbers that, for the period, were considerable.
The air-cooled V-twin suited the climates the army fought in. Very few vehicles survived the war and fewer survive today, so the Type 95 is much better documented in specification than in photographs.
