Citroën Sport’s four-wheel-drive ZX Rallye Raid won its first event, the Baja Aragón of July 1990, with Ari Vatanen and Jacky Ickx first and second.
Vatanen and Bruno Berglund won the Paris–Tripoli–Dakar of 1991, and Pierre Lartigue and Michel Périn the Dakars of 1994, 1995 and 1996; by 1997 the car had won 36 of its 42 events.
