Alvis built for reconnaissance and for the support that goes with it, and its vehicles lasted: the Saladin was designed in 1954 and five armies still had it in 2024; the Scimitar was still on operations forty years after the CVR(T) entered service.
The export record is as long. 280 Saracens to South Africa, 135 to Kuwait, 120 to Jordan, 100 to Lebanon, 30 to Australia; about half the CVR(T) production went abroad. The Stalwart went to Sweden, Germany, Austria and Italy.
