The Syncro was bought where roads run out and snow arrives: the 16-inch heavy-duty version, 2,138 of them, carried a tonne off-road with 246 mm of clearance, and the double-cab Doka took a crew as well.

The Taro gave Volkswagen a one-tonne pick-up for eight years by buying one from Toyota. The Amarok replaced it with a design of Volkswagen’s own, 830,000 sold in its first generation, about seventy per cent of Argentine output exported.
