Isuzu is a diesel maker first, and its four-wheel drives are bought for that: the Faster and its badged versions were the cheap working pick-up of the 1970s and 1980s, and the Trooper and Jackaroo took the same reputation into the wagon market.
The D-Max, built in Thailand since 2002, is the vehicle the aid and construction trades buy when they do not buy a Hilux, and the MU-X is its wagon; the Mazda BT-50 comes off the same line.
