A two-stroke four-wheel drive was an odd thing to offer a farmer and it sold anyway: cheap to buy, cheap to run and able to be fixed with hand tools. The six- and eight-seat pick-ups did the carrying.
Abroad the appeal was the same wherever roads were poor. DKW-Vemag built it at São Paulo as the Candango from 1958 to 1963, in four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive forms.
