The long-wheelbase 24 Series carried the service bodies — the 323 Sanitară ambulance, the 338 TC for children, the 429 TC and TP for public transport, and the 35S ambulance chassis. The pick-ups, 242, 320, 324 and 330, went to farms and co-operatives.
Abroad the AROs were bought for the same reasons: cheap, simple and able to be mended anywhere. Nine-tenths of pre-1989 production was exported, to around 110 countries on five continents.
