History

Steyr-Daimler-Puch, formed in 1934 from Steyr, Austro-Daimler and Puch, built the Haflinger (1959–74) and Pinzgauer (1971–2000) at Graz and took the G-Class contract in 1972; Magna bought its vehicle business in 1998–2001 and Magna Steyr has assembled the G under contract since, passing 500,000 in 2023.
