The record
Haardt and Audouin-Dubreuil took seventeen men, including the painter Alexandre Iacovleff and the film-maker Léon Poirier, across the Sahara to Niamey, Fort-Lamy and the Belgian Congo. From Kampala the expedition split into four groups that reached the Indian Ocean at Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Mozambique, and the Cape, before meeting again in Madagascar. The P4 Ts are distinguished from the K1s by smooth-flanged idler wheels, a trapezoidal rear body, a larger radiator and a trailer. L’Éléphant à la Tour is held by the Château de Compiègne.
