Romania's car maker, founded in 1966 as the Uzina de Autoturisme Pitești and owned by Renault since 1999, whose plant at Mioveni (formerly Colibași) builds the Duster 4×4 and the Bigster and built the four-wheel-drive Pick-Up.

History

The Colibași plant was inaugurated in 1968 to build the Dacia 1100 and 1300 under Renault licence; its Pick-Up family ran from 1975 to 2006, with four-wheel-drive versions from 1999. The Romanian state sold Dacia to Renault in 1999. The Duster SUV followed in 2010 and has been built at Mioveni in three generations; the TL8 gearbox of the first Duster 4×4 was made at the Pitești site. The plant's capacity is 350,000 vehicles a year.
