Kégresse P28 AMR (1931–33)

A small two-man armoured half-track with a rear engine and turret, derived from Citroën’s single-seat Type N infantry supply carrier of July 1931. The cavalry ordered fifty on 15 October 1931 as a scout; it was admitted to service as an AMR in April 1933.

The record

The P28 bogie had only two sets of rollers, spaced wider than its wheels. It proved unsatisfactory and was withdrawn from front-line service before the end of 1933 to be used for training; the survivors took part in second-line operations in 1940. Uruguay bought three for its Guardia Metropolitana in 1933, its first armoured vehicles, in service into the 1950s.
