The six-wheeled VLRA: the TPK 6.35 to 6.50, of 3.5 to 5.5 tonnes' payload on 3,850 to 4,800 mm wheelbases with the 138 hp Perkins, and in the current range a 17-tonne truck carrying three in the cab and up to 38 behind.
ACMAT built the 6×6 alongside the 4×4 from the TPK era of the 1960s, sharing cab, engine and most components; in 1982 it ran at 85 km/h, climbed 55 per cent and was air-portable. Versions included troop carriers, 4,000-litre tankers, tippers, a bitumen sprayer, a track layer, a GIAT mine-scattering cargo truck, a wrecker with a 20 tonne-metre crane, a semi-trailer tractor, heavy forest-fire tankers and convoy-protection trucks with twin 20 mm cannon. French special forces ran the 6.40 and 6.50 as refuellers with the 4e RHFS. The VLRA 2 range has the 645 STL and 645 DTT, and Arquus quotes 17 t gross and 27 t combined.
