The record
Toyota split the Land Cruiser in 1984: the 60 Series (later 80, 100, 200) for comfort, the 70 Series to carry on the 40's job. The short 70 and medium 73 and 74 (the Bundera LJ70 in Australia) were sold into the 1990s; the long 75 pick-up and troop carrier, and from 1999 the 78 troop carrier and 79 pick-up on a 3,180 mm wheelbase, became the range. A 2007 revision brought the 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel and a 2014 one the wide-track front end; Australian, Middle Eastern and African sales continue. The 70 Series has never been sold in North America or, since 2004, Japan (apart from a 2014–15 anniversary run).
