The record

The 406 of 1963 brought the six-cylinder direct-injection diesel and a bigger cab; the 416 lengthened it for the Bundeswehr and export, the 421 of 1966 replaced the 411 at the light end with the 403 and 413 variants. All were built at Gaggenau with the front and rear power take-offs and hydraulics that made them implement carriers; the 200,000th Unimog of 1977 came in this period.

AI rendering impression

An AI rendering impression starts from a 3D model of this vehicle, which an image model then paints into a scene. It is an artist's impression of the type, made to give a feel for the vehicle in its element — not a photograph, and not a record of any particular vehicle.

Proportions, fittings, markings, colours and the setting can all drift from the original in the process. For the vehicle's actual details, rely on the specification, the photographs and the cited sources on this page.
