History
UAZ began as an evacuated ZIS truck line in 1941, built GAZ-AA trucks and from 1954 the GAZ-69 light four-wheel drive that GAZ had designed; the 450 cab-over of 1958 was its first own design and the 452 of 1965 its longest-lived. The 469 of 1971 replaced the GAZ-69 for the Soviet Army and was exported to more than 80 countries, with licence assembly in Ukraine, Germany, Cuba and Vietnam. Sollers (Severstal-Auto) took control in 2000 and launched the Patriot in 2005; the plant continues the Hunter, Bukhanka and Patriot.
