The record

Ledwinka’s team scaled the Haflinger’s layout up to a 1.5-tonne (4x4) and 2-tonne (6x6) truck for the Austrian and Swiss armies’ 1960s requirements: the backbone chassis, portal axles, an air-cooled 87 hp four and a ZF five-speed with a two-speed transfer case. The 710 and 712 served Austria (from 1971), Switzerland (3,500), and forces and fire brigades elsewhere until the second generation of 1986.
