The Netherlands ordered the M38A1 in 1955 and had it assembled by the Nederlandse Kaiser-Frazer Fabrieken at Rotterdam from imported parts; the last were built in 1962. The Nekaf Jeep was the standard light vehicle of the Royal Netherlands Army and Marines until the Land Rover 88 and later the Mercedes-Benz G replaced it, and many survive with collectors.
