The “square body” K10, K20 and K30 of 1973–91, the longest-running Chevrolet truck: full-time four-wheel drive with the NP203 to 1980 and shift-on-the-fly part-time from 1981, the 350 and 454 V8s and the 6.2-litre Detroit diesel from 1982, the crew cab and the CUCV military trucks of 1983–87; the K5 Blazer and Suburban shared it.

The record

GM’s Rounded Line trucks of 1973 gave the K-series a new frame and cab that lasted eighteen model years, with the Cheyenne, Scottsdale and Silverado trims, the 1981 facelift and the 6.2 diesel; the Army’s M1008 pick-up and M1009 Blazer CUCVs of 1983–87 were square-body K-series, and the K30 crew cab carried the last of them into 1991.
