Arquus dates the Bastion's launch to 2008, after Renault Trucks Defense had bought ACMAT; it has been in service since 2012, and its first deployment was with the Chadian contingent in the 2013 Mali intervention. Burkina Faso received ten in 2012, Togo thirty PATSAS in 2014, Saudi Arabia 71 PATSAS in 2016 and Senegal 36 carriers with more in 2017 and 2019. The United States bought 62 in 2015 for African partners — Uganda, Kenya, Cameroon, Mali and Tunisia among them — from Mack Defense, which AM General later succeeded as the American maker. Armenia ordered 50, of which 24 had arrived by November 2023, and Ukraine had 11 with 50 on order in August 2025. The Fortress, first shown as the Bastion HM, is a larger 340 hp development.
