UAZ 469, 3151 and Hunter chassis numbers

Soviet-built UAZs carry a body (“kuzov”) number and a chassis number stamped on the frame and repeated on the plate under the bonnet, with the GOST model designation; since the 1990s Russian-built vehicles carry a 17-character VIN beginning XTT (UAZ, Russia) with the model code in positions 4–9. Where to find it

The identification plate on the bulkhead under the bonnet (model, body number, chassis number, engine number, year); the chassis number stamped on the right frame rail; the body number on the tub. Post-1990s: the VIN on the plate and stamped on the frame.

How to read it

1971–1990sBody and chassis numbers: The plate gives the GOST model (469, 469B, 3151, 31512, 31514, 452, 2206, 3303, 3962) and separate body, chassis and engine numbers; the year is on the plate, not in the number. The numbers are sequential by model and the factory’s year tables are not published.
