Toyota's answer to the Chevrolet Blazer was built by Winnebago in the United States from converted pick-ups in 1984, then in Japan. Independent front suspension replaced the solid axle in 1986. The second generation of 1989 became a four-door wagon; later generations dropped the pick-up basis.
