History

The kibbutz bought thermoplastic manufacturing technology from the American firm NOW Plastics in 1985 and named the company from it — PLA(stic) SA(sa) N(ow) — turning from agriculture to manufacturing and then from plastic containers to ballistic protection. Plasan supplied the kitted hull armour for 8,722 Oshkosh M-ATVs and about 9,000 MaxxPros between 2007 and 2011, cab armour and troop bodies for the US Marines' MTVR, protection for around 1,100 Hawkeis, and was Oshkosh's design partner on the JLTV. It employs about 650 people and says it has designed over 420 armoured vehicles.
