Peugeot won the French Army’s light-vehicle contract of 1980 with a licence-built G-Class carrying the 504’s petrol and diesel engines and 70 per cent French content; its own four-wheel drives (the 504 and 505 Dangel conversions, the Landtrek pick-up) are a separate row in the manufacturers list.
