Lamborghini, Sant'Agata Bolognese

The Cheetah was built on contract from Mobility Technology International for American military evaluation and was largely FMC's XR311 design; FMC sued when it appeared at Geneva in 1977, and the cost of the prototype and the defence of it helped push Lamborghini into bankruptcy in 1978, after which the Italian government ran the company until 1980. The LM002 came a decade later and stopped in 1991 with about 800 orders unfilled, because building it was too complicated to be worth the money.
