The Kragujevac works, which built Willys four-wheel drives under licence from 1953 and then the Fiat Campagnola from 1955 as the AR series — 17 AR-51s to the Yugoslav People's Army by the end of 1954 and 9,089 AR-55s to 1974, the army's standard light truck.

History

Zastava had built Chevrolet trucks for the Yugoslav army before the war. Its 1954 licence agreement with Fiat began with the Campagnola and the 1400; the AR-55 served the JNA into the 1990s. The works developed its own 615 and 620 trucks from 1961, joined Iveco in a joint venture in 1991, and the vehicle business went bankrupt in 2017. The plant became Fiat Automobili Srbija in 2008.
