The Swiss maker founded in 1950 by the engineer Walter Ruf, which built more than 1,600 T1 troop carriers for the Swiss Army, about 750 MR 8 armoured cars for the West German border guard, and the Duro, Eagle and Piranha families. It employs around 750 people at Kreuzlingen.

History

General Motors Canada bought Mowag in 1999; General Dynamics bought that business in 2003 and the company became GDELS-Mowag in 2004. Duro production moved to Kreuzlingen from Bucher-Guyer in January 2003. The Piranha of 1972 has been licence-built in Canada, the United Kingdom, Chile and the United States, and more than 12,000 have been made including the LAV and Stryker families.
