Arab American Vehicles

Arab American Vehicles was formed in 1977 by the Arab Organization for Industrialization (51 per cent) and American Motors, later Chrysler (49 per cent), to build Jeeps at Cairo for the Egyptian armed forces; it assembled the CJ-6 and later the Wrangler TJ and Cherokee, and in 2008 became the sole builder of the diesel Jeep J8, the military JK for governments that could not buy the Humvee, supplied to the Egyptian Army, the Israeli Defense Forces (as the Storm 3, via Automotive Industries) and forces across Africa and the Gulf. The company also assembles Kia and other makes.
